THE EDIFIER

WHO AM I ?

A child of the Timeless one,
A daughter of the King, within
Tall jeweled walls, lit with
The brilliant hues of ruby,
Sapphire, topaz, and emerald.
I'm a mirror of His beauty.

I'm a transparent pitcher
With water for the thirsty.
I'm a new canvas, pulled taut
For the caring touch of Life,
A sunbeam piercing the thick fog,
A branch of a budding peach tree.

Like the faithful sun's shining,
Nothing can sever His love.
I'm held deep in God's embrace,
In Jesus' constant care.
No one can pluck me from His hand;
He carries my name on His heart.

I'm a precious find bought with
Jesus' freely shed blood.
I'm gold-ore just unearthed, in
Need of crucible heat and
A cascade of cool, cleansing love,
That permeates and shines through me.

I'm one plucked from dark waters
Of eternal pain and gloom,
And taken to His warm hearth.
I'm a chick sheltered under
Mother-wings and nestled close to
His heart, where no dire harm can come.

I'm an adult elk fighting
Enemies with my antlers;
My shield is believing God.
I'm a carrier pigeon sent out
With good news and real hope
To those snared in despair's tight net.

I'm a home for the Pure Dove -
The complete purity vow coming
True through death's small door.
I'm a trumpeter swan on
A lakeshore, eagerly waiting
For her mate's imminent return.
